As many people expected, Lance Armstrong announced that this year’s Tour de France will be his last.
I think Lance will ride a limited schedule next year if he rides at all. More likely, Lance will be preparing to race the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
On October 13, 2009 Lance announced his intentions to compete in Kona. Let’s not forget Armstrong was a world-class triathlete at the ripe old age of 15 before committing to cycling full-time.
Given Lance’s pedigree and the fact that he’s already familiar with the course, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for him to finish in the top 50 and probably better.
Should be interesting either way and it will likely mean someone will televise the Ironman live for the first time in recent memory.
